Oven explosion sparks fire

A NYAH women was lucky to escape serious injury after her oven exploded on Tuesday night.

The Nyah Nyah West CFA brigade was called to the Stradbroke Avenue (Murray Valley Highway) home just after 8pm.

First Lieutenant Michael Watson attended the scene and said the cause was likely to be a fault in the appliance.

“She was turning the oven on or off, and it just exploded,” Mr Watson said.

“She said she only saw the door open and flames come out.”

Mr Watson said an ambulance was called to the scene and the female was treated for minor burns to her arms.

The fire was extinguished prior to the arrival of the CFA, with no other damage to the kitchen.
