Kicking like a girl

KICKING just like a girl will be on the minds of several young footballers at Alan Garden Memorial Reserve tonight.

You Kick Like a Girl is a footy come and try night aimed at 13 to 18-year-old girls and already several keen players are on board for the event from 5pm.

Among them will be some who have helped bolster the junior ranks at Golden Rivers and Central Murray clubs, including twins Tenae and Donal Fellows at Ultima, and Tyntynder’s Jess Unger.

Swan Hill College’s Robbie Gray said there was a long line of talented girls who had represented the school.

“There’s a lot of talent that has come through the school,” he said.

“There are girls who played for the school 10 years ago who are playing down in Melbourne now.”

Gray said the school had won over 10 northern zone championships.

“As a college we have performed really well and made finals,” he said.

The come and try night is expected to run until about 7pm, with the Tyntynder night series kicking off afterwards.
