THREE of the finest young jockeys in Victorian horse racing have connections with the Swan Hill region.
Harry Coffey is well-known as a rising star in the sport of kings and comes from a high-profile Swan Hill racing family with dad Austy a respected trainer.
Murrabit’s Jye McNeil is matching Coffey’s progress in the industry closely, while Albury-based young gun Josh Cartwright was born in Swan Hill.
Racing Victoria (RV) announced it had chosen the three this week to represent it and the wider Australian racing industry in respective international riding series over the next two months.
Racing Victoria said the trio had proven their talents in Victoria with stellar seasons in the saddle and would now be given the opportunity to extend their success in the saddle in front of racing enthusiasts overseas.
Fourth-year classmates at Racing Victoria’s Apprentice Jockey Training Program, the trio will test their skills against some of the world’s best young riding talent in upcoming apprentice-only races in the United States, South Africa and Macau.
