Swans’ youthful charge to glory

SWAN Hill Soccer Club’s youth team continued its charge towards a tilt at Bendigo Amateur Soccer League glory with a 3-1 win over Eaglehawk in Round 9 on Sunday.

The win was the Swans’ sixth for the season after destroying Moama 11-2 in the previous match at Swan Hill.

The Swans have taken almost all before them this season, and now sit second on the ladder, just five points behind Strathdale.

Their six wins and a draw from eight matches represent strong improvement for the club, which has not fielded a Division 1 team this season.

Swan Hill has a bye this Sunday before taking on Spring Gully at Ken Harrison Sporting Complex in Round 11.

The club’s Division 2 side found life a bit harder against Eaglehawk, going down 3-1.

Joseph Pino scored the Swans’ only goal for the match, with Dominic Makur red-carded in an at-times tense encounter.

With three wins and two draws from nine games, a much-improved Swans outfit is now two points behind Colts United on the ladder.

Swan Hill faces an important test against United this Sunday at Ken Harrison.
