Competitive year ends

SATURDAY’S Christmas turkey four-ball at Murray Downs signalled the end of a very competitive year’s program. The format requires the best three scores of each player on the 18 separate holes.

The winning men’s team scored a remarkable total of 144 points, an average of eight per hole.

This computes to two three-point and one two-point results for the three scorers — very hard to beat indeed.

The winning quartet comprised Matt Quaife (13), Bill Gurnett (27), Seb Parseghian (23) and Tony Miceli (30).

Runners-up, with 139 points were Cayle McLean (30), Jeremy Grant (25), Chris Wilson (28) and Mark Williams (7).

NTPs went to Ron Martin (second), Justin Thompson (11th) and Bob Taylor (15th).
