WITH long-awaited intersection improvements at Campbell and McCallum Streets to start in March, there are concerns the works may impact Swan Hill’s ANZAC centenary commemorations.
VicRoads have long planned to install traffic lights at the notoriously difficult intersection of Campbell Street and McCallum Street in the CBD.
But not only is the location a hotspot for near-misses, it is also the hub for remembrance.
With the town’s cenotaph on the western side of the intersection, community members have raised concerns with the impact a ripped up intersection may have on the ANZAC memorial.
This year marks 100 years since Australian and New Zealand soldiers arrived at the Gallipoli Peninsula on April 25, 1915.
