Brave locals shave for cause

THE World’s Greatest Shave is back — and once again Swan Hill locals have stepped up to the challenge of shaving their head in the name of blood cancer.

Every dollar raised goes towards the Leukemia Foundation, which invests it in research and supporting families who have been touched by the disease.

Swan Hill Automotive Group sales manager Dwayne Hinton raised more than $1000. Every car sold in the last month at the car dealership donated $50 towards Dwayne’s campaign.

Hairdresser for the occasion was Dwayne’s eldest son Jett who gave his dad a full shave, including beard.

Apprentice mechanic Kayla Shadbolt took a different tact, opting to dye her hair bright blue.

“Next year I might go pink,” she said.

Over at Swan Hill Secondary College, Year 10 student Louise Hatcher fundraised over $1600.

Her aunt Sandra Ewart was the first to face the razor.

“I can feel all the air whooshing past me,” she said.

Louise said it felt great to raise so much money for such a good cause.
