Field days success

NEARLY 100 stalls filled the football oval at Woorinen Recreation Reserve on Wednesday for the 2015 Swan Hill Region Field Days.

The event saw hundreds of school students and dozens of farming families from across the district turn up to enjoy the displays under beautiful blue skies.

Organiser Dean Morpeth said he was amazed by the turn out and very flattered by the support from the community.

“It’s more than we expected — we put more staff on and we’re still run off our feet,” he said.

“We’re thankful to the local community for supporting us.”

He said they ended up with 98 stall holders on the day, including the two new sections of the field days — the ladies pavilion and the children’s area.

The ladies pavilion certainly proved to be an attraction and Jane Procilo said she had already had more interest in next year’s day from potential new stall holders.

The school kids certainly weren’t disappointed with plenty to keep them busy, including receiving balloons from Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh and Member for Mallee Andrew Broad.

Mr Morpeth said it was great for the kids.

“They can learn a bit and have some fun.”

He said they didn’t go into the project with the idea of making money for the Woorinen Football Netball Club, but rather saw it as a chance to give something back to the community.

“The idea is that if we can support these businesses…then they’ll support us.”
