Our local Triple Zero hero

A NINE-YEAR-OLD Swan Hill girl is a Junior Triple Zero Hero after receiving an award for her Triple Zero call which saved her stepfather last August.

Pyper McGown found herself in a precarious situation when her stepfather, Matthew Simpson, began experiencing severe chest pain in front of her last year.

With no one else around, Mr Simpson called for Pyper to ring Triple Zero.

After initially feeling scared, Pyper then confidently made the call. doing her best to remain calm and answer the instructions of Triple Zero operator John Bradshaw.

“I felt a little bit scared but then I felt a little bit relaxed,” Pyper said with a smile.

Pyper met with Mr Bradshaw at the awards ceremony in Melbourne on Wednesday, and he said he was so impressed with the way she handled the call he nominated her straight away in his next lunch break.

Mr Simpson said he was grateful his health was in Pyper’s hands that day.
