FATHER and son duo Barry and Mark Steggall took out back-to-back Murray Downs Golf and Country Club’s Men’s Golden Putter events at the weekend.

Barry — a former Nationals Member for Swan Hill — was visiting from Mt Martha Golf Club and played off a handicap of 27, while son Mark (9) was playing on an RACV Golf membership.

The pair had scores of plus-seven on Saturday and a very good plus-10 on Sunday, taking out the prestigious event by two shots.

In very cold conditions on Sunday morning, the Steggals’ score was the best returned over the weekend.

With both players combining well, they had plus-five on each side of the card on Sunday, following on from their good start on Saturday, were they went out square with the card but came back in with an impressive plus-seven.

Locals Vince Foott (13) and Rob James (25) were runners-up in the 36-hole event.
