BEVERFORD residents have been invited to have their say on land use strategy policy.
Bigger Better Beverford will host a public meeting at the Beverford Tavern from 3pm on August 23, with residents being asked to complete a questionnaire about land zoning issues.
The community is preparing a development plan which will be submitted to Swan Hill Rural City Council.
BBB chairman Dale Miatke said the plan “will give some direction and prioritise what needs to happen”.
“We will also identify any conflicting issues between farming and proposed developments,” he said.
“Some landholders have sold their water which makes it difficult to do anything with the land and are unable to look at subdivision as an option because of present planning laws and regulations.”
Mr Miatke said all land in the area was currently zoned farming other than the service road which is zoned for commercial use.
“The community has recognised that it needs to identify strategies which will increase business, tourism and farming, as well as attracting further residents to live, work and enjoy the area in general,” he said.
