THE state planning minister could visit the region to confer on Swan Hill’s replacement bridge, if a newly elected MP has his way.
Daniel Young, the Shooters and Fishers Member for Northern Victoria, has called for Richard Wynne to make the trip from Spring Street, after a local community group wrote to him expressing their concerns with the current proposal.
The bridge has been a thorn in Swan Hill’s side for decades and when Mr Young visited the region three weeks ago he met with locals and Swan Hill Rural City councillors to learn more about the contentious issue.
“They went through the proposal quite carefully — maps, diagrams; possibly a ring road could go a long way to divert heavy traffic from town centre,” he said.
