LOCAL postie runs are finally set to include Tower Hill after confirmation from Australia Post the estate will receive long awaited mail and parcel delivery services in coming months.
This week’s announcement means home owners are no longer forced to rent post office boxes at reduced rates to collect mail, while post for residents of Swan Hill Village’s 33 units will no longer have to be delivered to a single collection point at Swan Hill Post Office.
The move comes following yet another poll that showed 59 percent of residents wanted to receive mail to their door. Previous polls have seen Australia Post arguing that the service was not required by a big enough portion of the community.
Local resident Mellissa Barry is keen for the service to start.
“It’s mainly about convenience really. Parking is a real problem near the post office and you tend to only go once a week rather than everyday,” she said.
