Resident escapes house fire unharmed

A HOUSE fire in the heart of Swan Hill on Monday evening caused extensive damage to a High Street home.

Two CFA units were called to the residence near the Pye Street intersection at around 5.30pm.

A male resident was inside the house at the time but escaped unscathed, saying “I was in the bathroom and just heard all this noise”.

Two police units arrived on the scene shortly after the CFA, to speak with the house residents and disperse an onlooking crowd.

The incident is currently under investigation and CFA Swan Hill captain Dennis ‘Nipper’ Turner told The Guardian the cause of the fire was at this stage undetermined, but likely started in the front corner of the house.
