Man on the run after armed robbery

A MAN armed with a large knife held up the Premix King bottle shop on McCrae Street at about 7pm Wednesday.

Swan Hill detectives said the male offender, who appeared to be in his 20s and of Aboriginal appearance, fled the scene with a large amount of cash.

“This is not the type of crime we often see here in Swan Hill,” Detective Senior Constable Gerard Kelly said.

“The male produced a large knife and made demands to the store attendant.

“A large amount of cash was taken from the cash register before the man ran out of the store.

“The store attendant was visibly distraught when police arrived.”

The male attendant was not injured during the ordeal however the store was closed for the rest of the night.

Police said they were looking at CCTV footage of the incident and are appealing for anyone who may have seen a man dressed in shorts, sneakers, a zip-up sports jacket with hoodie underneath in the McCrae Street area.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing and are following a number of healthy leads police said yesterday.
