‘Like winning Lotto’

LAKE Boga resident Glenda Rullo says she is over the moon with her newly-won Toyota Yaris.

Ms Rullo won the $19,000 vehicle, donated by The Guardian, in the Swan Hill Buy Local Campaign major prize draw last Saturday at the Community Tree and will be handed the keys tomorrow.

The mother and grandmother said she was numb with shock and disbelief when The Guardian’s sales manager, Daniel Priestley, rang her up to give her the good news.

“I had to sit down and let it all sink in,” Ms Rullo laughed.

“It’s like when you take out a Lotto ticket and you don’t expect to win it. It’s such a huge prize.”

Ms Rullo recalled purchasing her Buy Local coupon book from Aspire Jewellery when the store’s owner, Debbie Martin, mentioned there was a car up for grabs with it.

“I’ve had these books before with promotions in it, but the ticket for the car [draw] caught my eye this time,” she said.

Originally from Melbourne, having moved to the region 42 years ago to live on the farm of husband Mario, Ms Rullo said the new Yaris would be much better than her current car, now 15 years old, at making trips back over there to see family.

She thanked all involved, including family, friends and even strangers who had contacted her to congratulate her on the win.
