BMX kids pumped for comp

IT’S open season for anything with wheels at the Swan Hill Skate Park this weekend.

A qualifying round for an Australian skate competition will be held at the Hastings Street skate park on Sunday. 

Open to all ages, the comp features categories for skateboarders, scooters and BMX riders and is one of eight Victorian qualifying rounds, with winners heading to Moama for the regional final next month.

Swan Hill Senior Youth Support Officer Kane Sparks urged skate-inclined locals to head down early on Sunday, as each category is restricted to 20 participants. 

“Even if you’re not going to compete, it will be a fantastic day to come down and witness the skills of the competitors,” Mr Sparks said.

“It’s also a fantastic opportunity for locals to showcase their talents and also to highlight the great facility we have here in Swan Hill for skaters.” 

The state final will be held at Melbourne’s Riverside Skate Park on Thursday, December 12. 

Head to the Swan Hill Skate Park on Hastings Street at 10.30 am to register for the scooter events, 12pm for the BMX events and 2pm for the skateboarding.
