To be or not to be?

Will he or won’t he?

At the time of going to press on Sunday afternoon there were two questions of Shakespearean proportions buzzing around Swan Hill.

Will Novak Djokovic win the Australian Open men’s final?

If he does win will he bring the silverware to Swan Hill?

As you pick up today’s editon of The Guardian the answers to those questions will be known.

On Saturday night a message came to The Guardian from the world number one himself hinting at his intentions to visit.

“Thank you everybody in Swan Hill for your support, I can’t wait to bring you the trophy guys, cheers,” Djokovic said.

As of Friday the ‘Get Behind the Mallee Djoker’ committee met, discussing the finer details of a possible visit from the world number one.

The possible visit would involve chartering a helicopter from Melbourne to Swan Hill after Djokovic finished his media commitments this morning — given he won.

While the exact itinerary for today is being kept top secret as of Sunday, ‘Get Behind the Mallee Djoker’ publicity officer Paul Dillon said he hoped Djokovic would be able to spend a little time with some of the school students in Swan Hill.

It is believed he would also pay a visit to the Yana Street home of the Swan Hill Lawn Tennis Club.
