Fighting spirit in servo saga

‘MAKING a statement’ is how one member of the Swan Hill Servo Objectors group described the sausage sizzle to be held today at the Campbell Street community tree.

The group are looking to bolster community support for their Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) case against Coles Express, which will be heard in Melbourne in July.

The case is in relation to a service station proposal approved by Swan Hill Rural City Council (SHRCC) back in January for a new service station on the corner of Beveridge and McCallum streets.

The Servo Objectors, who maintain the development is inconsistent with SHRCC’s planning policy framework, will gather at the community tree from 8.30am until 3pm today to spread the word about the development and drum up signatures for a petition to present to VCAT.
