Seed planted for new regional event

A NEW motor sports festival is one of the ideas Swan Hill Rural City Council is toying with as it looks to bring a new regional event to the municipality.

The council earmarked $15,000 in its 2016/17 draft budget in seed funding to attract a new regional event to the district. 

Director corporate services David Lenton said Swan Hill already had a good calendar of events in Swan Hill but there were some gaps the council would like to fill.

“The economic development unit … will keep their ear to the ground for what’s coming up and if necessary we can always call for expressions of interest,” Mr Lenton said.

Mr Lenton said a festival of motor sports was an idea that had already come up on the radar.
