LAKE Boga Men’s Shed has scored a $2500 grant from the Federal Government and will use it to buy a shipping container for their latest project.
Member for Mallee Andrew Broad visited Lake Boga on Thursday to announce the news, noting the success of men’s sheds across the country in improving the health of men feeling isolated and alone.
There are about eight men’s sheds across the Swan Hill region including Nyah district, Robinvale, Balranald, Woomelang, Boort and Wycheproof and Mr Broad encouraged men to get involved in their local shed.
“There is no doubt that communities are stronger when the men who live in them are healthy, happy and socially connected,” he said.
“Across the country we are seeing the benefits that the Men’s Shed Programme is delivering to our rural and regional communities, where the sense of isolation can be debilitating.”
Sheds are eligible for funding under the National Shed Development Programme with the next round of funding opening soon.
Funding can be directed towards a range of outcomes including purchasing tools and equipment, improving facilities and delivering programs to support better health awareness.
