A SWAN Hill council election candidate has called on the council not to increase several fees and charges next financial year as it considers public responses to its draft budget.
The council met yesterday to receive two public submissions on the draft, as it prepares to adopt the budget later this month.
One of the submissions was from Chris Jeffery, the first local to publicly declare his interest in nominating for the local government elections in October.
Mr Jeffery asked councillors to refrain from increasing fees for the Livestock Exchange, the district’s leisure centres (to incentivise healthy activities) and for animal registrations.
