Taking inspiration from the natural landscape around her, Kerang artist Kerryn Finch has a new art exhibition on at the Swan Hill Regional Art Gallery.
Kerryn uses pattern and a bright colour pallet to create a heightened sense of visual energy in her vibrant, colourful and quirky artworks.
The works on display in her exhibition have a very Australiana feel and feature an array of native and introduced plants, including wild flowers and cacti.
“I’ve been looking at introduced species of plants and native wild plants,” Kerryn said.
“The main idea behind this collection is that a weed is only a weed if it’s in the wrong spot.
“I wanted to find beauty in things that are considered ugly if they aren’t in the right place.”
Although she has only just started doing this type of painting, Kerryn said she is really enjoying exploring the frequently changing flora landscape in North West Victoria.
“I just fall in love with the colours and it’s been really interesting to learn about these plants” she said.
