BACKPACKERS could finally have some clarity on their working future in Australia after the government budged and agreed to a 15 per cent tax deal.
With just three sitting days left before the end of the year, the drawn out backpacker tax saga appears to almost be over, with the government lowering their tax rate.
The Coalition first introduced the tax rate at 32.5 per cent 18 months ago before a host of problems cropped up.
Labor is still pushing for a 10.5 per cent tax rate, but key cross benchers like Nick Xenophon Team and Derryn Hinch expected to vote it through the senate.
