Swan Hill residents unite for carols.

Swan Hill locals joined together in festive spirit to sing along to beloved carols at this year’s Carols by Candlelight on Sunday.

Carols were sung by primary school choirs from around the area and a choir made up of members from local churches.

Apart from the carols, there was also a free barbecue manned by the Swan Hill Lions Club and church members, a jumping castle and face painting.

Swan Hill Carols committee member Jacqui Price said “almost 1000 people” participated in the festivities at Riverside Park.

“It was great to see so many family groups there,” she said.

“They were a generational carols with grandparents, parents and children all sitting together enjoying the night together.

“The crowd was very enthusiastic and were very well behaved, and was hardly anything to clean up afterwards which shows how much people appreciated the night.”

Ms Price said all the children enjoyed themselves and “loved the puppet who co-host for the night”.

“Personally the highlight for me was ‘Oh Holy Night’. That is my favourite carol; it’s just really beautiful.”

The carols wouldn’t be possible with the hard work of volunteers and community groups who have spent the last few months organising and rehearsing for the event.

“I want to thank all the volunteers who took time out of their lives to make the night fantastic for everyone,” Ms Price said.
