The locals of Manangatang are coming together to raise funds for the annual Good Friday Appeal, a fundraising effort for The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
The appeal raises funds for the hospital through individual donations and community fundraising events with the charity itself hosting a 15-hour telethon on Good Friday.
Manangatang has various initiatives in the pipeline as part of its fundraising efforts which include an Easter egg hunt and raffle.
Fundraising coordinator, Steve Taylor, is heading up the efforts this year and said the cause was personal.
“My older sister had a hole in her heart and in the 60s she was one of the first to have that sort of operation at The Children’s Hospital,” he said.
Mr Taylor said the Manangatang community raised about $2500 last year and hoped to reach $3000 from this year’s events.
“We usually have on the day a door knock appeal where we go around town, an Easter egg hunt on the last day of school and we also have an Easter egg raffle,” he added.
