SWAN Hill silo art needs to represent the town as it is today, says Woorinen resident Valissa Dreyer.
Ms Dreyer said she was “dead against” the proposed artwork for the Curlewis Street silos, which would depict the PS Pyap and Major Mitchell.
Plans to bring silo art to Swan Hill are underway, with landowners GrainCorp granting their assent to the use of the facilities for the public artwork.
But, while residents are supportive of the proposal, concerns have been raised around the subjects which have been selected for display.
Ms Dreyer said the biggest problem with the proposal was it excluded a large part of the Swan Hill community.
“I think it’s a terrible mural to put on our silos,” she said.
“Why not put something that associates us with our town today?
“It’s too dull for a happy town, we need something colourful and if you want to pick a person to put on there, put an Aboriginal person.”
