WHEREVER you end up in life, if you grew up in the Mallee, it will always still be home.
Musicians throughout the generations in Swan Hill and the surrounding region have exported their talents to bigger markets, going far and wide to greener pastures.
For many, though, some of their earliest gigs would have been at the Swan Hill Club (SHC).
On Saturday night, these bands and solo artists returned home to where it all began, having a massive reunion at the SHC.
Event organiser Sue Turner told The Guardian the night was a “huge success”, with a large crowd turning out from 4pm until the wee hours of the morning.
“Many travelled long distances to be here,” Ms Turner said.
“We had people from Gold Coast to Melbourne and Bendigo and Mildura.
“There was a lot of interest in the day and many disappointed bands who couldn’t make it.”
Ten bands, three solo performers and three duos performed on the evening, with many winding back the clock with a brilliant performance.
“Some of the bands hadn’t performed together in years and re-formed for the occasion,” Ms Turner said.
“There was no practice for some, but it came all back to them just like they never stopped.”
