– Quambatook Football Netball Club played their final home game, with the club folding at the conclusion of the 2022 season. It was a day of mixed emotions, with club president Rhys Carmichael describing the day as “crazy” as more than four times the population of the Mallee Town came out to watch the games.
– St Mary Mackillop College students Georgia Craig-Neal and Isabella Gilchrist were recognised in the Premier’s VCE Awards for achieving perfect scores in sport and recreation (VCEVET) studies as Year 11 students in 2021. Georgia told The Guardian she was honoured to have her efforts acknowledged at such a prestigious event.

– Swan Hill local Sam Cottingham was set to take part in The Lottery Office Outback Air Race (OAR) 2022. The tri-annual race sees competitors raising money for the Royal Flying Doctors Service in what Ms Cottingham described as “basically the Variety Bash but it is in the air in a plane”. Cottingham was joined by husband-and-wife duo Linda Beilharz and Rob Rigato.
– The future of the Mallee Rally and a proposed tourist park near Sea Lake could become clearer in the next week when a conservation management plan Lake Tyrell is released. The draft of the plan released earlier this year for public comment recommended the Mallee Rally be discontinued, and measures including a land buyback and rehabilitation programs be put in place.
