Drunk camper’s river altercation

TWO campers have been interviewed after a physical altercation allegedly took place in the Nyah Forest last week.

Swan Hill police said the victim was camping in the forest and struck up a friendship with a fellow campers about 400m downstream.

“The victim, whilst heavily intoxicated, walked down to see friend about 6pm on July 21, where after some time a verbal and physical altercation took place,” a police spokesperson said.

“The victim left, returning to sit in his car at his own campsite. A short time later the offender drove to the victim’s camp and drove into the rear of the victim’s car, pushing him towards the river.

“The victim has been able to start his vehicle and drove off to a safer location and reported the matter.”

Both parties were interviewed regarding traffic offences, drink driving and drug driving.

“Note to self. If affected by drugs and or alcohol, don’t drive and mind your manners.”

Garden ornament theft

POLICE are investigating the alleged theft of a garden ornament from a Swan Hill address.

A male offender attended a Gaethan Drive property some time between 6am and 11am on July 21 and stole the item.

He then attended Supercheap Auto with the ornament under his arm, shopping.

Police said they were in the process of identifying the offender and will take action to apprehend him.

CCTV footage tracks down offenders

“EXCELLENT” footage has helped police identify people involved in an alleged brawl at a licensed venue in Swan Hill.

The brawl started between a group of patrons in the garden area of the premises about 11.30pm on July 22.

Police arrived shortly after involved patrons had left the premises.

“Witnesses supplied excellent footage,” a police spokesperson said.

“Police are currently identifying all involved, with early arrests to be made.”

Fail to stop for police

A FEMALE driver will face court after allegedly failing to stop for police when directed.

The woman was wanted about 1am on July 21 for excessive speed in Campbell Street.

Police have identified the vehicle and occupant.

“Once located the offender will be interviewed and facing court,” a police spokesperson said.

Knife seized

A KNIFE was seized and woman quizzed after allegedly acting suspiciously outside toilets in Swan Hill.

Police spoke to the male and female about 1.40am on July 20 after they noticed the suspicious pair in McCallum Street, Swan Hill.

A search was conducted on the pair and a knife was located in the female’s possession.

She was interviewed and the knife was seized.

Man’s online con

A MAN made the biggest mistake of his life after being conned out of money in an online relationship.

The victim became involved with another person on a dating website in early May.

Swan Hill police said over a period of time, the victim felt comfortable with this “blossoming” online relationship.

“The victim was asked to supply money (bank transfer) to the other party in the relationship, which the victim complied with,” a police spokesperson said.

“Big mistake … after some time, the victim realised he was being conned in this online relationship.”
