MURRAY DOWNS
THE Murray Valley Playing Area Regional and State Championships took place over the long weekend at Murray Downs, where the greens were presented in a fantastic state thanks to our greenkeeper Graeme Cox.
Congratulations to Josh Thornton, ‘Buck’ Lehmann, John Caldwell and Garry McCaig on winning the State Regional fours against Northern District in the final.
They will go on to play against the other regional finalists at a later date.
The Division 1 midweek premiership team will travel to Mildura this Sunday to play against the other finalists in the Murray Mallee Region Finals, we wish them good luck and good bowling.
Social bowls last week was won by Dave Griffin’s team, with members rostered on for next Thursday being Greg Robertson and Harry Whitford.
Results from the Mixed Medley fours tournament played earlier this week, will be published next week.
SWAN HILL
THE Friday jackpot is sitting on $172 and is still waiting for the magic number to be drawn out for some lucky team.
The weather is not looking very bowler friendly today, with the heat continuing, but Friday Frolic will be on for those who are brave enough, with a 3pm start and names to be entered by 2.30pm if you wish to play.
In the event of bowls not taking place, the clubhouse will be a cool destination, with everyone encouraged to come along for a cold happy hour drink, a light snack, friendly chat and to take part in the raffle draw, which is an important part of Friday afternoons at the Swan Hill Bowls Club.
There is only room for eight more teams to enter the Swan Hill Bowls Fundraiser tournament, which aims to raise money for Swan Hill Health to purchase an MRI machine, which will be of great benefit to local residents and the outlying communities.
There will be a great assortment of raffle prizes, some of which are quite valuable, which have been kindly donated by local businesses and members.
We encourage non-bowlers to come along for afternoon tea and to take part in the raffle, with the tournament planned for Sunday, March 23, starting at 1pm.
Don’t be disappointed by leaving it too late, with entries to Bill King on 0428 324 083 or the bowls club on 5032 1772.
Entry fee is $15 per person for the any combination, three bowl triples event, with all money raised going to this worthwhile cause.
It would be appreciated if members could please bring a plate of afternoon tea.
Next Friday night, March 21, following our Friday Frolic, there will be an end of season barbecue and presentations to the winners of our club events.
Club members, partners and families are most welcome to attend, so please put your name down on the sheet on the notice board if you plan on attending for catering purposes.
Our Easter and May Carnival entry forms are also available at the club.
