BIRCHIP-WATCHEM were within reach of the top contenders last year, taking out fourth place on the season ladder and earning a finals spot.
But a defeat to Nullawil by just two goals pushed them out of the premiership race in the first semi-final.
Frustratingly for The Bulls, they had defeated Nullawil in round 10 by one goal and runners up Boort in round 16 by two goals, proving they were competitive with the top contenders.
They will return to the court this season with new coach Stacey Hamilton at the helm and eager to make amends.
They appear to be a side ready to claim a premiership that slipped out of their hands last season.
