Eager new artist thriving

Indigenous artist Toby Cameron says “the sky is the limit” for his student, Tara Moore, who has been learning about art and her Aboriginal culture.

Ms Moore, 23, only discovered her passion for art six months ago and is eager to understand its meaning to her culture and family.

Mr Cameron has been working with Ms Moore, who has a disability, for four months.

“She was very quiet at the start and it was very good to get her into the art and culture,” Mr Cameron said.

“She has been producing all different types of art, which is great to see, she really enjoys coming out and really understanding her culture as well.

“I am still learning myself, but if we can all learn together, I think that is a good thing.

“She is really producing some good work and I think the sky is the limit for this young lady.”

Well-known First Nations artist Kenita Lee-McCartney said that she had heard good things about the work being produced by Ms Moore and was looking forward to seeing her work.

Ms Moore said that she enjoyed doing the art and it helps her.

“I have come far and I’m learning lots of things,” Ms Moore said.

Her debut sale was at a Christmas market last year where she sold seven works.
