Swan Hill Flyers keep finals hopes alive

THE Swan Hill Flyers will be facing a big couple of days on the court, with yet another double header weekend in the CBL.

Both the men’s and women’s Flyers will travel to Bendigo on Saturday evening to take on the Braves, with the men’s team hoping for a repeat of their round two performance, when they defeated Bendigo by six points.

Both teams will then return to Swan Hill for their home Sunday clash against the Castlemaine Cannons, with the Lady Flyers set to tip off at 12pm and the men’s match to start at 2pm at the Swan Hill Basketball Stadium.

The men’s team find themselves in sixth place on the ladder and three points outside the top four. A win against both the Braves and Cannons would go a long way towards securing that much sought-after finals berth, especially with the Bendigo Braves currently holding down fourth spot.

Following his team’s win over Mildura last weekend, Swan Hill Flyers men’s coach Jacob Seears told The Guardian that playing finals was the main goal this season.

“The aim for this season is to make the top four and play finals – we haven’t made the finals as a men’s team yet, although the women have in the past, but as a men’s team we haven’t and this result certainly keeps us within touch of the top four.”

The Lady Flyers on the other hand find themselves languishing on the bottom of the ladder, with just one win from their six games so far in 2021-22.
