TAILS will be wagging as Swan Hill’s new dog park at Tower Hill is officially opened later this month.
Doggie gift bags will be provided to guests and their four-legged companions at the opening at Barry Steggall Park on Wednesday, November 24 at 11am.
Swan Hill Council director of development and planning Heather Green said the new dog park included two separate areas — one large area for active dogs and a smaller area for quieter dogs.
The park is fully-fenced and has a drinking fountain, dog water bowls, seating, circuit path and sensory elements such as logs and rocks and tree plantings providing natural shade.
Ms Green said council recognised the important role pets play in the lives of residents and visitors to the area.
“This project acknowledges the importance of dogs particularly in terms of companionship, meeting new people, staying active and healthy, and for older people, staying independent,” she said.
