EARLY votes have begun to be cast for the Victorian state election.
Early voting centres opened their doors at 9am on Monday to elect the 59th Victorian Parliament.
The early voting centre for the Murray Plains electorate is located at 22 Sturt Street, Echuca.
Across Victoria, 103 early voting centres are open for voters who prefer to vote before the November 24 polls.
The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) expects the number of early votes to increase this election, based on past trends, and on legislation passed earlier this year removing the personal declaration requirement when voting early.
Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately said that telephone assisted voting has also opened.
“If you are unable to vote without assistance because you are blind, have low vision or a motor impairment, you can vote by telephone during this early voting period,” Mr Gately said.
Voters are reminded to understand how preferences work, and to ensure they follow the instructions on their ballot paper on how to vote correctly.
