From cake stalls and movie nights to auctions and quilt shows — the Swan Hill community embraced the opportunity to host an event and help raise vital funds for a hospice facility within the town.
Loretta Belton and Gaynor Hayward were the driving force behind the hospice campaign, as a result of their own personal journeys and loss of loved ones.
Ms Hayward said she was overwhelmed by the response and generosity of the community who helped to make their vision a reality.
“The most amazing thing is the response, it’s been incredible,” she said.
“We can’t thank the community enough.
“The community’s generosity and spirit has absolutely blown us away.”
Those sentiments were echoed by Ms Belton.
“It shows the Mallee spirit at its best and I would not want to live anywhere else,” Ms Belton said.
