Spotlight on Pioneer Settlement

THE curtains are set to open on the Pioneer Settlement’s much-anticipated Heartbeat of the Murray experience, with the official launch of the world-class tourist attraction tonight.

Little has been revealed about the $3.85 million development but according to Laservision, the Sydney-based multimedia company charged with delivering the 3D experience, the Heartbeat is an attraction never before seen on Australian shores.

“This is by far one of the finest shows that’s been done in Australia. There’s nothing like it,” said Laservision marketing manager Matthew Tuey.

“We’re hitting the national spotlight… the show is deserving of all the attention.”

Swan Hill was abuzz with anticipation this week, with Channel Nine’s Today show doing a live cross from the Pioneer Settlement on Tuesday morning.

But the laser light show is only one aspect of the Pioneer Settlement’s makeover.

Other aspects of the revamp include a new website, interactive smartphone app and fresh marketing, including a huge billboard over the Calder Freeway in Melbourne, all made possible through joint federal, state and local government funding, plus money donated by Swan Hill Inc and local community group Friends of the Pioneer Settlement.

Swan Hill Rural City Council director of infrastructure David Leahy has overseen the Pioneer Settlement’s transformation over the past 12 months and labelled the new show, which features lasers, water screens and fountains, bubble, fog and snow machines, “spectacular in every sense”.
