JESS Burge, Claire Barr and Jess Ilsley (pictured) will head to Melbourne for a Team Vic photoshoot on Sunday before competing in the national cross country championships at the end of the month.
The trio are receiving generous donations from the community towards the costs of competing, with Nyah Lions Club and patrons of a sausage sizzle giving generously to their cause.
They continue to train twice a week under the watchful eye of PE coordinator Virginia Allen, as well as preparing at home.
They have succeeded at the Swan Hill Specialist School cross-country, the Victorian specialist school run and the all-schools event in Bundoora most recently, qualifying them for their state squad.
Acting principal Jodi Walters said the school was delighted by the commitment of the runners.
“We’re incredibly proud of the three girls and their efforts, and we’re excited to see them doing well,” she said.
