Alcheringa dragged to bingo

THE residents of Alcheringa aged-care home will tell you they have never found bingo to be a drag – until last week.

The Alcheringa community was delighted to welcome two very special guests who brought an unprecedented level of glitz and glamour to the home: the incomparable Eliza Lot and Spencer Street from Dragged To.

The pair of Melbourne performers, who were in Swan Hill for several shows last week, were only too happy to stop by Alcheringa to meet residents and staff, before taking the reins of their weekly bingo session.

Naturally, a lot of singing, dancing, laughter – and of course fabulousness – ensued.

Chelsie Mott, Alcheringa’s social care co-ordinator, said residents were “over the moon” to welcome the duo, who went above and beyond in their own vibrant and vivacious way, to bring smiles and laughter to everyone across the home’s community.

“Eliza and Spencer were both stunning and our residents absolutely loved them and the special experience they provided,” Ms Mott said.

“They made sure to engage with everyone and it wasn’t long before residents were, singing, clapping, and dancing in their chairs.

“The residents had a blast and their smiles and laughter said it all.

“It was a such a wonderful morning and many of the residents have said that it was the most memorable and exciting bingo game they’ve ever been part of.

“It’s definitely one that we at Alcheringa will remember for a very long time.”

The special event continued a busy spring of fun-filled activity for Alcheringa.

The home’s social-care team curates a wide range of regular events and activities that inspire participation, promote inclusion, and give residents an opportunity to stay connected with each other, as well as the community, in a fun and positive way.
