Looking after locals

ALMOST 20 local families touched by cancer have been treated to a much-needed holiday thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Swan Hill community.

After raising more than $14,500 in last year’s highly successful Colour Your Run event, the organisers handed over the funds to the Women Touched by Cancer group.

In turn, the group put together accommodation packages for eighteen cancer patients entitling them and a loved one to four nights at a resort in Echuca Moama.

These packages also included a three-course dinner each night and a fuel voucher to help get them there.

“We’re absolutely overwhelmed and excited by the fundraising efforts to be able to give these cancer patients pampering,” Women Touched by Cancer president Lorna Hosking said.

Two other families affected by cancer received vouchers to Nagambie Lakes plus fuel vouchers as well.

Ms Hosking said it was great to give back to the community and the families were all very appreciative.
