CAMPBELL defeated Beveridge by three sets and 16 games in Swan Hill tennis on Saturday.
Kieran Mays finally convinced Daniel Gardner to relinquish the Number 1 spot and it paid immediate dividends with Mays winning 23 games to 15. Gardner won his three sets at Number 2 in an attempt to boost his percentages.
Campbell’s Bruce McDowell joined the love club in his first set but fought back to win his mixed set.
Renee McCaig and Jacqui Brooks had an epic battle in the ladies sets but the combination of Tony Evans and McCaig proved too much for Brooks and Alan Thompson in the mixed.
McCallum triumphed over Gray by three sets and 12 games. Christian Devlin stepped up to Number 1 against Craig Bath and was impressive in his two doubles sets but equally as unimpressive in the singles.
Barry Dow retired injured after winning his first set and Paul Bethune filled the void.
