Speedway Sunday

EASTER Sunday promises to be a big one for local motor racing fans, with the Pickering Transport Group Super Sedans series on at Chisholm Reserve.

There is a good field nominated for the Swan Hill Motor Racing Club event, with these cars among the fastest spectators will see at Swan Hill’s track this year.

Drivers will compete in three heats per car with a pole shuffle and 40-lap final.

Local driver Ash Bergmeier will be the man to beat on the night.

He is leading the points after five rounds with a 98 point lead to Mick Nicolas Jr who won the last event at Hamilton.

Racing starts at 6.30pm and all the usual support classes will also be on show.

Seven nominations for street stocks include locals Paul and Zoey Salau, and Andrew Carmichael and Dan Fox.

Peter Parsons has also improved on his early season form and will have the opportunity to get a podium finish.

Leighton Warburton is back following a crash last meeting and will be the driver spectators keep an eye on in the standard saloons class.

Mick Glare returns to Swan Hill for the second time this season but he might find it hard to keep up with Wayne Harris, Ken Higgins and young driver Josh Campbell.

Victoria’s number one three-litre driver Will Lamb is back to race in Swan Hill, with Shane Simpson and Daniel Wilson among those challenging Lamb’s supremacy.

Rhiannon Glare, Curtis Carrison, Zac Smylie and Felicity Parsons will all be out to impress when the juniors start racing. The Thomsons from Kerang and the Ewarts from Swan Hill will appear again in the V8 modified category, while the VSC formula 500s will be intriguing for fans with Colin Plumridge arguably in the best form.

A special class will also be held on the night. Microsprint is similar to formula 500s but with a different motor and, for their size, these cars are very fast.

Gates open at 3pm.
