JANE Matheson has six nominations — including two confirmed starters today — in this year’s carnival.
Testaman and Phemie will both race in maidens today.
A four-year-old mare, Phemie will run in race one over 1200m with local jockey Harry Coffey on board.
Testaman is a four-year-old gelding that will be ridden by Jacob Rule in the second race.
Matheson said it would be interesting to see how the two go.
“They should be a bit competitive being maiden runners,” she said.
Outside of the maidens, however, Matheson said the carnival was the hardest time of the year to win a race at Swan Hill.
She said with big money on offer trainers from across Victoria looked to try and get a winner at Swan Hill over the carnival.
“When they come up here they usually have some pretty good horses,” she said.
“[Today] there is a lot of money on offer.”
