MARK Bowd is the new pro out at Murray Downs Golf Club.
The popular local completed his traineeship about a decade ago and stayed on as assistant pro, developing a strong rapport with members.
“I’m looking forward to getting in and promoting the game to new members,” he said this week.
Bowd said Swan Hill was lucky to have Murray Downs.
“We are very lucky to have this course and the venue and the facilities for a town of this size,” he said.
Bowd said his goals at this stage were to provide the best experience for customers.
“In the short-term it’s based around the staff and myself providing the best customer service,” he said.
“And we want to promote new golfers to the game and establish good relationships with local businesses.”
While the demands of the job will get in the way from time to time, Bowd said a regular round was important.
“It’s in your best interests to get out and have a game,” he said.
“You get to know the members and some of the regular visitors too.”
Bowd starts in the pro shop on May 3.
