NYAH West residents are looking to restore the town to its former glory with the help of a new resident who has three decades’ worth of experience as an art director.
A special meeting of the Nyah District Action Group has been called for tonight to discuss budgeting ideas to help new Piangil resident David Stephens bring to life his artistic vision for Nyah West.
It follows a positive response from community members at a meeting in Nyah West last Wednesday, in which Mr Stephens canvassed his ideas to them.
Among Mr Stephens’ ideas were to restore Nyah West’s 1920s streetscape by repainting some of the old buildings; creating a “heartfelt” brochure showcasing some of the town’s more interesting people and places; and developing a Nyah West brand by opening a shop to display local produce.
He even suggested painting the town’s silos with indigenous themes, or with murals of local town legends or country music icons.
