CHINKAPOOK and Manangatang may be small places on the map but in terms of heart and town spirit after tragedy they’re proving themselves to be a metropolis.
When the Saunders family lost their Chinkapook home to fire on Good Friday, they lost almost everything apart from the clothes they were wearing.
Their family home is now a charred mess of debris and rubble but from the ashes rose an amazing gift in the form of a massive fundraising and support effort from the combined communities.
“We have just been overwhelmed by the community’s support,” said mum Shae-Maree Colman.
“Both my husband and I are just so grateful for the donations and show of love and support we are receiving.”
