New chief for regional arts

REGIONAL Arts Victoria (RAV) has announced the appointment of Jo Porter as it new chief executive officer.

Ms Porter takes the reins from Joe Toohey, who has led the peak body for regional Victorian artists and arts organisations since 2017.

Regional Arts Victoria is the peak body for regional artists and arts organisations, and the leading organisation for regional creative practice in Victoria.

“I am delighted to be entrusted with one of the best roles in Australia,” she said.

“I look forward to working with Regional Arts Victoria and the artists and audiences across the state, as RAV leads, resources and inspires participation in arts activity in an era of escalating change and opportunity in regional Victoria.”

Ms Porter has been the chief executive of Queen Victoria Women’s Centre since 2019.

She has held a number of leadership roles in the arts in Australia, UK and the US, including as the executive producer of Malthouse Theatre.

Ms Porter will assume the role in early November.
