RACECOURSE

ON Sunday, July 3, the club played skins for social bowls with nine games of three ends. It turned out to be a wonderful day, with the winners Richie Doran, Kevin Vivian and Lyndal Taylor collecting seven skins. Runners-up on a countback and winning five skins, were Norm Smith, Noel Hender and Liz Renney.

On Wednesday, the winners of jackpot bowls were Glenn McIntosh, Kevin Vivian and Som Pascoe (Kerang) with two wins and +23 shots. Runners-up with one win and +7 shots were Bruce Horsburgh, Connie Rovere (Murray Downs) and Brian Warren – with the jackpot not going off.

On Sunday is the club’s opening tournament for season 2022-23. We are playing the Taverna Funerals Any Combination Triples, with a start time of 12.30pm. Names should be in to Kevin Vivian or to the club by 11pm on Sunday. Players are reminded that it is uniform dress and club members are reminded to bring a plate of afternoon tea.

On July 17 is the club’s annual Renney Sponsored Any Combination Triples tournament, with a 12.30pm start and casual dress.

MURRAY DOWNS

SOCIAL bowls winners who braved the cooler weather at Murray Downs for the past four weeks were – Ken O’Bree, David Timmins and Keith Burrage, Garry McCaig, Neville Martin and Ray Lambert, Harry Whitford, Noel Delmenico and Mac Angus, Peter Furnell, Som Pascoe and David Carmichael.

A social day was also held last Saturday, with 32 players attending. Winners were Mick Tempini, Di Angus and Keith Burrage. Runners-up were Peter Furnell, Noelene Weir and Vicki O’Bree.

Thank you to Garry and Peter for volunteering to be on duty that day. It’s great to see such a wide variety of winners so keen during the cooler months.
