Nyah District beat RSL to become one-day champions

NYAH District has stunned RSL again to take the 2016-17 Kookaburra Cup.

The Demons are making a habit of destroying the dreams of RSL. They bowled the current ladder leaders out just five runs short of a victory.

The Swan Hill and District Cricket match went down to the wire with RSL still a chance to take the win in the final over, but their last wicket fell which dashed their hopes of winning silverware.

In the first innings, Nyah District came out swinging to hit 193 runs off their 40 overs for the loss of eight wickets*.

The RSL bowlers kept their lines tight and only conceded nine extras for the match.

Jack (3-77) and Cameron Cook (2-37) were handy attacking with the ball against Nyah District during their spells, trying to limit the scoring of the Demons.

They were able to keep Nyah District under 200 runs, and set themselves a good chase target.

An enormous knock from Ben Shepherd got his side well and truly into the match, with 101 runs.

He was helped by Tom McGregor who scored 34 runs before being run out, the only formidable scores of the match.

The Nyah District bowlers could have bowled the win for RSL, with an untidy 17 extras, but in the end the Demons had done enough to claim the win.
